"God only knows, what I do without her...." One just goes on. What else is there to do? ...God only knows, how I live without her.

I've just about finished Shirley MacLaine's memoir of her time in Hollywood now. Seems that in her eyes, the love of her life was (married) Robert Mitchum, who grew up in a small town in Connecticut, according to Shirley. I don't know that he felt the same, and when it came right down to it, he stayed with his wife. She liked the type who acted like they didn't give a f*ck, like Mitchum, and like Dean Martin.

Leave A Little Bush
I like Dena Griffith's fashion recommendations here.

Flowers
The Rollings Stones Remastered Flowers album's fantastic.... The Stones are one of the more *under-rated* bands, artistically. Their "Backstreet Girl" is so delicate, so gentle.... Really different from Lambchop's excellent cover of the same song.

Pervertlike and Repulsive
I just deleted a post on this topic, so what do I do? Of course, post on a similar thread, again. Who knows how long this one will last. "CHILDLIKE and androgynous" is how one article described Michael Jackson. Yeech, childlike to me is a good thing, not at all even remotely like that creature. Pervertlike is more like it. Androgynous? Well, I don't like the androgynous look or even the idea. Although some cute girls do look pretty androgynous, and some of those seem to hit it off with me.... So I don't particularly dislike "androgynous" because of that. But "androgynous" looking/sounding *guys* are repulsive, to me.

GG
GG is a reggae record label, actually GG's. In this case, just wanted to comment on Gorgeous Girl. I guess if I had a crush on some unobtainable, personally (slightly) known girl, it would be her, now. The tiny one has sort of disappeared. GG seems to be getting, if anything, more and more charming. I don't know if I had mentioned here, but she does have a boyfriend, and now, by chance I've gotten a pretty good look at him. He looks to be a good looking guy, with shoulder length hair. Looks quite suitable for her, actually. That girl is so nice, especially for such a gorgeous girl. I sort of avoid her now, but then, we seem to run into each other anyway....

There's a certain Twilight Zone episode, where this guy really wants a particular young woman for his own. Except, she treats him like dirt, and can't stand him. He makes a deal with the devil (literally) and she becomes his adoring, puppy-like girl. Which drives him crazy..... I have a feeling, if Gorgeous Girl became my adoring girl, in some fantastical alternate universe, it wouldn't drive me crazy at all. But then, she doesn't treat me badly to begin with. In fact, she's very nice, and warmly charming (which is part of why she's my Gorgeous Girl - the total package.) She's fun to experience, even a little. Although, in the real world and given that she's attached, I can only take so much of her. A little goes a long way.

Is This True?
Someone wrote: "Alcohol removes our external facade and reveals the true self within."
Is this true? I must be a pretty fun, crazy and reckless guy then, within! ;-) {Note, it's been snowing for about two hours straight now. Wish I had my camera with me. It's getting very pretty out there.}

"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance -- it is the illusion of knowledge." (Daniel J. Boorstin)
Yes, like the Darwin Theory. Dumb on the face of it...

Snowflakes! I was doing this...
That was fun! Just went out for a walk in the snow. It was a good chance to try out my new black earmuffs, and my supposedly waterproof shoes... Both came out fine. I was catching snowflakes in my mouth and hands! Big ones! It was surprisingly easy. Nice big flakes, moving down from the sky slowly....

MacLaine Movies
After catching The Apartment, with Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon, I've been wanting to check out some more MacLaine. I'd never paid much attention to her previously. I checked out her book, Hollywood Memoirs, too. That one had great stuff about her time with Jerry Lewis, and especially Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Over the weekend, I had three MacLaine movies, two on DVD and one on video. The DVDs were due back sooner, so I watched those first.

The Trouble With Harry was an amusing farce directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Nothing too exciting. Just a slightly pleasant way to spend a couple hours. Then I tried The Children's Hour. However, I hate mean girls. So, after getting a little taste of the mean little girl in that movie, I decided not to watch the rest. Too bad, as I like Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine. MacLaine says some of the best scenes in that movie were cut.... Overall I found those two DVDs a little disappointing. So, Sunday afternoon I put in the video, Some Came Running, starring Frank Sinatra, MacLaine, and Dean Martin. That turned out to be by far the best of the three. Sinatra's really strong in this movie. I didn't know he could act so well. Martin was classic too. The odd thing for me was, I was rooting for Sinatra to get together with the other actress, a beautiful blonde smart school teacher. However, her heart was pretty icy, and he never fully managed to melt her, for any length of time. The contrast between the cold woman, who understood Sinatra intellectually, and the warm hearted girl who was stupid (MacLaine) but very much in love with Sinatra's character was quite dramatic. I've known both types. A cold girl who understood me intellectually, and I think would have preferred a purely intellectual friendship, like the school teacher in this film. Eventually I gave up on her heart. I think sometimes, a woman likes to keep a cool distance from a guy - even though she obviously has feelings for him. Her life is simpler without the passionate man (like Sinatra) in it. I actually went with a girl who was a lot like MacLaine's character in this movie, too. Warm heart, very loving, willing to do anything. However, completely incapable of intellectual comradery with me. Have I just found the arch-stereotypes of women, in my life, or is this how it is? Settle for a dumber girl who loves you without limit, or alternatively, settle for an intellectually challenging woman who is uncomfortable letting her heart show.

MacLaine's character: "What I really want to do is modeling...But you've got to have a figure like a boy."
Sinatra, smiling and eyeing her lasciviously: "Yeah, and that you haven't got."

Things To Come
It's snowing beautifully here. :-) Our second snow of the season. It's not cold enough to stick, but I think it's a good sign of things to come...

Money For Sex
Ha hahah!! Some guys like to pay for sex. "You don't pay a woman for sex. You pay the woman to leave." Ha hahaha aha! I don't, but I can see their point.
