Lovely 
The best thing about Lovely And Amazing is Emily Mortimer.... You keep wanting to see if she really looks as good as you think she might... (Spoiler ahead!) Then you get to! After sleeping with this weird actor guy, she gets out of bed, and asks him to critique her body! She's a really pretty woman, cute, thin, with a nice body... Except he finds every flaw you could imagine in her. Even though each point has some truth in it -- it really hurts her. And she's a great looking girl! At least *she* asked for the criticism. He barely knew her. He probably wasn't aware how sensitive she is.... (Can you imagine someone who is a really close friend suddenly telling you a million faults they've thought of, come to think of it? That should never happen. It would be totally insensitive - especially if she knew you were very sensitive. How could she? Or he... Hmm.) After commenting on her private parts, he comes to her smile. "You have a really sweet smile, very charming. You're teeth are yellow though." You can just see her deflating. She's so cute. (And her teeth are **not** yellow.) How can someone do that to someone else they *like* at the time? It's a very strange scene in the movie. I mean, standing naked in front of someone of the opposite sex, and getting detailed criticism on all aspects of your body? Weird!! I liked it though, obviously. She's a pretty and charming woman. That guy is such a goof - she deserves better! She's a much better actor too... The rest of the movie is pretty lousy. The other characters are annoying. Her adopted "sister" is bratty and useless. Her other sister is bitchy. It's just a weird movie. The characters are not likeable. The bit part players are boring. Not much goes right. Except for Emily. She *is* lovely and amazing. {Note, I was just about to watch that scene again. First she asks this guy to do her a favor, "I'm going to stand right there and you're going to tell me everything that's wrong with me." Then she looks at him, sort of tense, worried, and very vulnerable. I don't know. I can't see myself granting her request. No way.} Wednesday, November 12, 2003
Trailer Well, that was a nice turn of events, and a good diversion for this evening. I was just telling someone today, I wasn't so sure I really wanted to go to the Looney Tunes movie, just to see the new HP movie trailer, "It will probably be out on the net soon anyway." Well, it is, now, today. I think the vibes of that fact reached me, even in my fog of work earlier (after the one day holiday.) Mugglenet has good downloadable versions, and the WB site has the official Quicktime version.. I liked it. Much too short and quick, of course. Some cool scenes though - especially the Snape Boggart one... CDs or CDs With Sleeves Now I've got a couple "new" CDRs about ready. Some great stuff there... Anyway, I'm thinking I will forego creative sleeves for them. Coming up with and executing sleeves is not really my idea of fun. I used to do it, partly because I knew a woman who was fantastic at that. I have to say, I came up with some nice ones myself. I don't think she's in the process of making me any new ones though... So, maybe I'll just bag the idea of fancy sleeves altogether. That's more time I can spend gathering and selecting cool stuff, which is a lot more fun. Detachment One of my more reliable sources for today says: "Wednesday, November 12, 2003 Today maintain a level of detachment in all your affairs. You are vulnerable today. Try and keep your distance from delicate matters of the heart." Funny, I was just thinking about that.... It's kind of scary, when you think about turning a dream into a reality. Jessica Topless? 
Just reading a story about some Jessica Lynch topless photos - possibly due out in January. That would be nice. As a friend who liked going topless herself, on beaches, used to say, she didn't see being topless as all that big of a deal. Hmm, wonder if Jessica looks like Melissa George topless? (Edit: Now Flynt says he has nude photos of Lynch, but he's going to keep them to himself. Do we really think those pictures won't get out, one way or another?) Stereo Killer I was just thinking... I should call my new, almost ready CDR Stereo Killer. It's so good, you want to keep turning it louder and louder. Then you blow out your woofer... I can't wait to get my car back... I don't think it's going to kill that stereo. I'll let it try though. I think I've discovered the likeliest stereo killing song. I'm not sure. Sunday afternoon was beautiful here, and I was in and out a lot, so I can't say exactly when that woofer got ripped apart.... I think my PC sound system is a bit more industrial - so I probably ought to use it, in those times when I feel like blasting the place out with drum and bass. Monday, November 10, 2003
Blew It! Sure, I had a great time Sunday afternoon. Dancing and partying away -- giving my new rough CDR a first listen on my actual stereo..... However, I blew out one of my speakers!@ I haven't done that for years! I think I had sort of concluded that they were immune. They're not! I need a new woofer. I blew it. Sunday, November 09, 2003
What The Hey Sometimes, I wish one could just throw caution to the wind, and have a conversation with an old friend, who isn't your friend any more. You know you could, that is, that you have the chemistry to..... Not to pretend to, or to desire to rekindle the friendship, but just to talk. A one of.... I see my cold weather has moved off to Carrot's land now. I was tired of it here.. It was good for a change, but cold weather gets old. I like it warmer. One uses a lot less heat. ;-) |
