Christmas Eve, 2003
Thinking ahead, after a Christmas Eve this year which left something to be desired. (Although even this year had it's good points... My daughter was quite a good sport, helping me with my cold get out and do some last minute shopping, and she wrapped most of my presents for me, too...She's a wonderful girl.) Anyway, so, I thought I'd check my forecast for December 24, 2003:

"You will not have any taste for work, which will become sheer drudgery."

Of course, I've taken the day of Christmas Eve off for many years. Why would I want to work then?

"You will want to go out at night, to hang around in slightly dubious night-clubs."

Ha haha... Slightly dubious night clubs, that sounds fun. On Christmas Eve though?

"You will certainly have a secret affair and, if you are married, this can really complicate life."

Cool, I like secret affairs... No need to worry about this complicating my married life. I can't imagine getting married, not by next Christmas Eve, for sure. What's the rush?

"You could fall in love with a very feminine woman."

This seems to be a repeat theme. Sure, I *love* very feminine women! You could make this prediction most any time...

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, everyone...

Looks like another Blue Christmas. (Edit; after I wrote this, I received a really nice Christmas greeting from my best friend... Technically, as Elvis would sing it, it was still, a blue, blue Christmas. Christmas day turned out somewhat better....)

So Feminine She doesn't look like this really - think light brown hair...
If you're going to almost run into someone, it helps to almost run into someone you like. :-) She's so little, and cute, and she sounds so feminine... Mmmmm.... :-)

"Don't Leave Me!"
Wow, I just heard the little girl within a Land Of The Loops song, with her plea, "Don't Leave Me," within the movie "Les Miserables"... Cool.

Some Christmas Hits & A Miss .
Not that the Portland native will care, but I think the creator of the Simpsons is off my Christmas list... I've sort of lost track of the series in recent years... However, I tuned in to this year's Halloween Simpsons' special, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The heart of the show seems a little rotten to me. Sadly... Actually, it's not that big of a deal! There are some good shows out there, I think (although, I don't watch TV much, and I'm even thinking of cancelling my cable.) The Simpsons just has fallen down. I don't need it...... On the other hand, it was great to see the Andy Griffith Show Christmas episode, which featured a great version of "Away In The Manger", which I'd heard before, but never seen in context. Highly recommended episode! :-) In all it's black and white glory. ;-) I caught Alan Jackson's Christmas special this year too... He's quite good with the classics. I love when people don't feel any need to poke fun at Christmas. *That's* refreshing.... Also, last evening a local station aired an hour of area high school choirs singing seasonal carols. It was very uneven, some great stuff, and some not so good versions... For me, the highlight was the Seaside High School choir of 9 girl carollers. *They* were really good, with excellent arrangements...Incredible "Silver Bells". I'd love to hear an hour of just *them*!! They look so cute with their little Santa hats on... (Some of the others were really fine too - Wilsonville High School perhaps being the best large mixed choir group - very solid, gorgeous arrangements, flawless chorale music... Sunset HS carolers looked like they were having the best time of the lot. They were all paired up, boy/girl, and danced around with each other as they sang. The girls especially seemed to be having a great time in those pairings. Girlish fantasies. :-) The Sunset group somehow managed to weave in a bit of the Beach Boys' "I Get Around" within "Frosty The Snowman"... Sort of bizarre, but it gave them yet another chance to dance around.)
