Mellow Indie Flowers at home outside of Stayton
I'd been meaning to listen to this All-Time Quarterback... It's pretty mellow, with a couple gems, like "Why I Cry", which is more upbeat sounding than most of the others here.

Spooky Carol
Lambchop's "The Scary Caroler" does feel pretty spooky.... How could I ever have let myself lose a bunch of Lambchop? Sure, I'll get it back.. It's strange though. It seems sort of unreal to lose a hard drive half way through it's warranty. Now, I don't trust my HDs at all.. Which is good, really. I'm backing up things like crazy, and quickly... I'm getting much more obsessive about saving entire albums of groups and singers I like.. not just my favorites. That's one of the things I always loved about building my own collection of records (then adding CDs).... Just the hits, or just the best even, are not enough. I love music.

Cold, Not Cool
I just listened to a trance album. "Sub Science," and it was boring and cold. Cold, not cool. Seems like I had exactly the same experience the last time I tried some trance. Just wanted to give it another chance... Actually it had little chance to bore me. That took seconds.

New Record!
Yes, it went up to 98 degrees today, a new record! Alright... I thought it was hot here, when I looked up Bakersfield, California... It's 108 degrees there right now, and it is supposed to feel like 126 degrees! That seems like a misprint...

97.....
I'm sure glad I set my A/C to start earlier today... I'll see how it's doing soon. We've got another record day here, 97, the hottest ever on this date. (The hottest since they've been keeping track, anyway.) I'll be happy to hang out.

Colleen's Previous Group
I like this Eve's Plum album, "Envy", more than I thought I would. It's Colleen Fitzpatrick's group from 1993, way before Vitamin C, and "Smile." She looks about the same, only younger. How did she ever get mixed up with those three guys in Eve's Plum though? One guy just looks mean and pouty. Another looks frightened and scary, like a guy who would torture animals perhaps. The third looks like he belongs in some heavy metal band. There there's Colleen, pretty and gentle looking, completely out of place! Well, she makes the group, it's "Eve" and the other guys..... Probably a 4 star album or so.

Low Rumble
I really like the low rumble on "Cylons of Love." I've been playing that one over and over driving today. At lunch time I picked up a few things... Audrey Tautou looks great on the DVD cover of Happenstance, although that looks like a still from "Venus Beauty Salon." I've never experimented with creating VCDs...yet. Now I'm listening to a CD, which seemed better than it sounds, "Give The People What They Want - The Songs Of The Kinks." With just a few left to listen to, I've found two I like. Most of the others are unlistenable. Heather Duby's rendition of "The Way Love Used To Be" and The Fastbacks' version of "Waterloo Sunset" are likeable. Now if only they'd turn the A/C about 3 or 4 degrees cooler in here... I *do* like it cool. It's 93 out now, about 9 degrees warmer than it's supposed to be at this hour... Looks like another record hot day is in the offing.

A Pre Later Miss Tautou, lovely as usual
I received this advice today:
"You should keep your feet planted firmly on the ground. You are a very idealistic person who bounces back and forth between optimism and pessimism. Get a healthy balance!"

It's incredible how much different things can look, from one day to another. One early evening this week, I was driving in the sun, the A/C blowing on me, listening to some Brian Jonestown Massacre I'd just committed to CDR, and smiling..... I'm listening to the Garbage album now that I first made a CD for back in November, when it was a Pre. I think I see why I didn't like it that much the first time I heard it. Could have been the opening track, "Shut Your Mouth," which may have struck me as rude and bitchy. This morning I just quickly skipped it when it didn't strike a good chord with me, so it didn't really affect me that way. The second track, "Androgeny" made me think of my friend who likes that sort of thing, the one who seems quite feminine to me...So I was predisposed to like it. It's a nice little tune though. Perfect for repeats.

Hmm, I hate going to get my haircut, so it sometimes ends up looking shabby, like today. So, how could I avoid that unpleasant routine? Maybe take on a beautician as a girlfriend? Someone like Audrey Tautou in "Venus Beauty Salon." Yes, she would do nicely

Tasty Bubblegum
Shampoo's "Trouble", some tasty girl bubblegum...

Their Charm
I *really* like Yo La Tengo... Losing a bunch of their music (albeit temporarily) made this so clear to me. I just picked up several YLT albums which came in for me, and I'm listening. Wondering why I like them so much. A simple song like "Something To Do" even... I think maybe it's their charm. Ha haha, on the next song on "Genius + Love", called "Ultra-Powerful Short Wave Radio Picks Up Music From Venus", he mentions their "charm"! I swear I hadn't listened to that one, at least not in months... Maybe it was some ultra-powerful radio wave ESP from the digital grooves to come to me moments later....

Cold Or Warm
I like girls who like air conditioning - - I love it. Seems like Fatboy Slim is often thrown in with groups like Morcheeba. F.S. leaves me cold though. It's just not the same. Like a girl who looks kind of like a girl you love, but doesn't have the same kind of heart. Now, Rocker's Hi Fi, I never really thought I liked, but now I am not so sure....

Chillout
I clearly love chillout music... I've noticed before some of my favorites like the Sneaker Pimps and Morcheeba showing up on those sorts of collections. I'll be seeking more chillout, I can see. I noticed a couple more detailed reviews of Bent's new album, "Programmed To Love." I can't wait to listen to it more... It just seems so suited to my drives, I think I'll leave it out there for now...

She Knows It
"Some day I'm goona make her see, how good together we can be..... One day I'm goona make her mine.... I've never known someone like this. She's got a look I can't resist.... I'll be the one that makes her smile.." "She Knows"- The Herdsmen.

It's sunny, our team won last night, we have 90's for highs all week, I'm swimming in music... I even changed my drive letters last night, cool. Ha, "a uniquely warped and eccentric sound," describing Bent's album.. I don't know, but it sure is cool to my ears. Goes perfectly in my mobile sound system... Just perfectly.

Slick
That was easy. Pretty easy anyway... After one little glitch, I've got my new storage hard drive in, and it's working fine! In fact, I'm listening to some Bent on it, right now.. Just try searching for the group, "Bent." You might get things like ''...bent over..." Wow, I want to install another one! This is kind of addictive!

To Arrange Events
I have so many PC things to do, and yet, I am off to a game first. If only one could arrange those public events to happen when you want them to!

If Wishes Were Realities
The realities I'd have, if wishes were realities....Actually, *some* of my dreams are also plans, I am working toward, and making progress on. What is it that separates dreams of future reality, from just dreaming? Hmm... Oh, I am actually quite happy to find out that an entire IBM series of glass hard drives turned out bad... The scraping sound I heard, had nothing to do with some accidental bad thing I downloaded. The only thing is, they really should give people their money back, if the drive fails. Why would I want to put another defective IBM same series drive into my PC? That's suicidal for ones data (or MP3s, videos, and images in my case.) .... OK, it's a little later, and I have a new drive all ready to put in... Maybe tonight. I've been looking into a few software utilities, too. It seems like I am getting progressively geekier, partly through necessity!

Class Action
I see there's a class action suit against IBM about the defective hard drives... How do I become a part of this?

IBM Nightmares
I used to have a friend who worked at Lotus when IBM bought them out.. Her tales should have warned me... But nooooo! I bought an IBM 75GXP hard drive as my second drive a while back (last year?) and expected good performance for years... However, another of hundreds of unhappy users wrote this on CNET about this drive:

"About 3 months in I heard it make this horrible scratching noise that still haunts me in my dreams."

That's right! Apparently their 3 year warranty is worthless too, as all you get back, is another bad sector producing same hard drive in return. No wonder IBM is selling their hard drive business. It's turned lousy. Now, what sort of hard drive *should* I buy for my second, data storing hard drive? Obviously not IBM, but then what?
