Sweet '69 I'm listening to Beachwood Sparks' "Once We Were Trees" today, on Sub Pop. If I didn't know better, I'd say someone found a long lost very cool pop-psychedelic-country rock-folk soulful album from 1969. Sweet. Perfect for a lovely sunny summer's eve afternoon. Tuesday, June 18, 2002
Feldon's Daughter I was training today on some software which could be useful... Sitting in a little room all day, it was nice to have an instructor who could have been (Agent 99 from Get Smart) Barbara Feldon's daughter. Looks, hair and personality. Kept me awake. Upon learning my name, she told me she'd never forget, as Matthew is her son's name too. 1930s Posters OK, so I may be in the most boring city in the U.S. with a population over 50,000 for my training today However, theyve got some great posters of the 1930s on the walls of the halls here. One has the program, and photos, from a local 1930s (exact year unclear) production of Alice In Wonderland! I dont know where they got some of the black and white photos in these posters. Theyre not the well known ones from books Nice displays. Alright, were on self-paced study, and although Im on lunch, Im ahead of the pace, so I might as well get back to it. Monday Morning Music ![]() Just picked up Pavement's "Slanted And Enchanted '91" CD, Saturday. "Summer Babe (Winter Version)" fits this morning pretty well. After a high of 97 degrees last week, it's supposed to rain with a high of 65 today. Typical! Matador's such a cool label. And yet I toil away. What if I woke up a record producer? Top talent scout? How can one even start to realize what he'd really be good at, as a youth? Hmm, I think I should have followed my first inclination this morning... I think I'll put on The Righteous Brothers Anthology. No, no, Built To Spill's "Ancient Melodies of the Future", yeah. Sunday, June 16, 2002
Bravo I just realized I have Bravo. Hmm, well, I've known it before, but I've never really tuned in. So, I am thinking, "wow, there might be something useful on this channel sometimes!" I am looking through the listings for the next week, and I see *nothing* useful on that channel, at all! They must have something good on sometimes, right?(Edit: Note, movies sometimes sound a lot less interesting, at least to me, in capsules, than they actually can be, when you tune in by accident - - so there actually *may* be something interesting on the Bravo channel in the next few days. It's in an odd spot on my tuner though. They should let you renumber the channels to your own desire. Or at least they should let *me* do that!) ....Ahh, I love these days off. I could use more of them. Someone said to me Friday evening, "so, you have two full days ahead. What are you going to do, just be lazy?" As if I really have a hard time filling my days! What, you have a couple days off, so you're supposed to work? I don't understand that concept at all! |
