Typically Serious Hmm, I don't think I've posted this photo (from 2001) before. If anyone is curious. Typically serious. Heavy Vibes... Skengdon sure put out some heavy reggae back when in the 80's... Just checking a little Cutty Ranks and Cocoa Tea on that label... mmm.. A reggae friend in Seattle had wanted me to find a particular Skengdon 12" 45 for him if I could.. quite a collector, and I'm sure we could have worked a trade. I found the 12" eventually. I haven't seen Al K. since though...If you're out there Al, I've got your single around here somewhere! Let's get together, maybe go for some Thai? Seattle's got some excellent Thai food, thanks... Ooo, I wish I still knew my handful of Seattle reggae buddies... They were really nice to me. (Hey, I'm not with *her* anymore either, so get in touch! Ha, as if they'd ever happen to read this in a million years....) Thursday, March 07, 2002
Snow! Yes! It's snowing like crazy here! On March 7... Yeah!!! :-) Hmm, maybe I should sneak out for a photo... Tuesday, March 05, 2002
She Knows You Oooo, there's such a huge difference... One girl may know you fairly well, but not be very sympathetic to your nature. She might use her knowledge to make you feel worse about yourself, to keep you not too happy, not too confident, not too comfortable.. Then, there is a completely different kind of girl. She knows you just as well, actually better. She is kind, and she understands you. She comforts your fears, she soothes your soul. She brings sunshine into your life, in a way that works particularly well for you. What's amazing to me, is how a girl might understand me better than anyone else. Better than people who I've known for years. It's easy to see why guys sing about girls as angels in their lives.. A girl can be. Sunday, March 03, 2002
Psychedelia ![]() I don't know that I'm really in a 60's mood.. but "My White Bicycle" - Tomorrow is pretty cool. Actually, I started the day with a shower to "I Can Hear Her Heartbeat", a personal 60's comp., with a special girl as my inspiration, so I suppose it's not too surprising.. I was thinking more of indie for today though. I love being surpised by cool music.. More 60's, this Pretty Things is pretty hot.. I sort of love when things escape me, then I find them later. Who cares when. Cool music is cool music, now or 10 years ago, or 15 years from now... Oh help! Yo La Tengo does an absolutely horrible version of the Beatles "Eight Days A Week." If that was the first song I'd ever heard by them... scary. "Pablo and Andrea" is a much more representative YLT cut.. They're a cool indie band.. When It Hits You ![]() OH man.. here I am sampling this and that.. Just came upon an instrumental (accordian) version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Very schmaltzy, and I'm having a hard time turning it off! The Dodgers finally won a Spring Training game, so I'm feeling good this afternoon... Smiling Dante Bichette hit two homers for the men in blue. Yeah! Ha hah a, this version of this song is just funny! No, I am not saving it! After several weeks bye, I'm having a green brew or two now too... Hmm, Chinese pop? No I don't think so, not today. It's not too bad though... Whoever Jay Chow is.. OK, someting different! No, not jazz, thank you.. Yes, back to music. Spoon I can handle. I'm not sure I actually love them or anything, but they'll do while I find something else.. Let's see, a graphic? This blog's been sort of starved for those for the last two or three weeks.. To those who say Blogger loses their posts now and then, I say, hey compose them offline.. (as I write on line, but I am backing this up now and then... So long as this PC doesn't decide to lock up...) Hmm, well Spoon is fairly cool. I'm still not sure if I'd love them 6 months, or 5 years from now, though.. I like "Don't Believe Everything You Hear" though... Oh, I've wanted to sample music for a while now. I just didn't feel up to it. Too many family emergencies.. Need some time, taking this afternoon, to kick back, relax, have some fun... Hmm, Spoon, "good but boring." Does that make sense? Time to do something a little less safe here... "One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel alright...." |
