Charming Japanese Yes!!! The Dodgers signed the Japanese left handed starting pitcher, Kazuhisa Ishii, on Friday, while I was away.. :-) I just watched the video announcing him... He seems like such a charming guy too! Great smile, self-deprecating humour.. I like him already. I love it, I hope he does great in LA! :-) I think he will, too.. And I? I went out for a walk on suddenly sunny but still very wet early Friday morning, and took a photo of these little nubbins, just before I got back....And another from a few days previous.. I don't know a lot about bark, but I liked this one. Maybe it's just because Ally is by herself a lot of the time, and she's always thinking thoughts to herself, much as I do.. From last Sunday's Ally-fest (and those are about the only episodes I've seen so far)... "Some people find love, permanent, and some are just meant to be alone." - Ally McBeal Thumbs Up My Moms surgery went real well... I got to spend some extra time alone with my Dad too. He was quite interesting. :-) Yesterday, when we were waiting in the hospital room for the surgery to begin, my Dad was telling her how much he missed her. He didnt have her in bed to warm him up, and he didnt have anyone to cuddle up with. I hope I'll one day marry someone I can still be so in love with, when Im their age. ![]() Here's the first sunrise photo I took, after rushing back in for my camera on the way to work this last Tuesday morning. About ten minutes later, and a few miles over, I took this one.. Serious Life My Mom is going in for surgery tomorrow at 1:00PM. I'll be among those there, hoping for the best, and saying my prayers. Dante in Blue I think Dante Bichette looks really cool in Dodger blue... That big smiling face!! I'm really optimistic about the upcoming season.. Buffy On Top/Sunrise Buffy the Vampire Slayer has *a lot* better music than Ally McBeal... "Don't need no magic..."- (from Bob Dylan's cover of 'People Get Ready.') ![]() ....I took a few sunrise photos Tuesday or Monday morning, before the constant grey skies arrived again. They only just slightly captured the glorious radidly changing morning sky. ![]() Sunday, February 03, 2002
They Kill Them Off One of the things I hate, hate, hate about TV shows is how they kill people off. It doesn't matter their age either. Personally, I've been alive for quite a long time, and no one, not one single person anywhere close to my age, that I was close to, ever, ever died. But on shows like Ally... Hey, they can't get the actor any more, just kill him off. How crass. How stinking unrealistic. You know it had nothing to do with the character, just business. So, the guy who she's always been in love with, Billy... He's divorced now, she's still single and still loves him... So, do they get together? Of course not. Can't have Ally McBeal actually be happy. Give the guy a brain tumor to explain his sudden death..... Well, I can understand a person who can't actually be happy.. But to kill their potential...it's rotten. It is amusing how Billy's hair changed back to it's natural brown, in {fantasy} death, though. Really Bad Taste Yuck, sometimes, Ally has really poor taste in the guys she sees. Too bad, she could have been really cool. Now, she seems so common, so un-special, so yick. Ah well, at least I didn't get into this show when it was new! (Of course, not like I have ever, ever shown bad taste in who I've been seeing in my life, no, not never.. well, hmmmmm. ;-) Still, she's ruined her fantasy quality for me.) Oh damm, after many chores, still unpacking really, I'm listening to some further Left Banke. They're cool. Obviously underexposed, underrated. Now, this is the sort of sixties stuff I haven't heard I want to hear... Like the sort of psychedelic "There's Gonna Be A Storm"... (Haven't I done enough productive for one day? Yes.) Oh give me a break.. Now Ally's true love of her teen years has brain cancer, and he has also dyed his hair blonde? Must have been the dye. I've seen so many guys looking really, really foolish with dyed blonde hair.. Ha.. Oh man, he has an earring too. What a fashion monkey. Oh sheesh, he's divorced now too in this episode? How many problems can they give one guy... Sheesh!!! Love Itself ![]() I love that girl!! The character... She seems so vulnerable. And cute! I want her. The mixed sex group toilets are pretty weird though. It's bad enough sharing public toilets with men. I loved when she was kind of forced to go out with a prospective client.. She thought outloud (which I love,) "Sometimes I just feel unfaithful to love itself." Oh, I know that feeling.. "Whoever said that "there's plenty of fish in the sea" thing is lying. Of love lost, and her trying to make herself feel better, "The more lost you are, the more you have to look forward to." She's good! Mmmm, I love finding something in my own time. I couldn't have cared a bit about Ally McBeal when the show was big. Now, it's great just discovering it and watching it whenever, day after day, on FX... Do things when **you** want to. Could be 40 years later, who cares? Like good music... It just doesn't matter *when* you discover it... A few months later, five years, or whenever... It's still equally as cool, and just as exciting, if not more exciting, than if it was brand new.. Oh man, "I think I need to believe that it works....love, couplehood, partnerships..." Oh man, do I ever know that...It's an interesting struggle with oneself.... Hmm, sometimes I'm not so big on the show, but I still like *her*. Ugh, she just had a one night stand.... Kind of slutty. Well, honestly "stars" don't really hold my interest for very long. It's amazing how quickly they can disappoint. I like "real" people better. Left Banke Wow, Left Banke is proving lots more interesting than the Box Tops. Exploring their "other" stuff. They've got lots of worthwhile songs.. Faux Spring ![]() Yesterday, after luxuriously sleeping in, making myself some Malt-O-Meal, and eventually opening my front door, what a smile I had on my face, all day and all of the night! It was suddenly sunny, and warmer! I was thinking, "wow, it must be in the fifties today... but it feels like spring!" Ha, when I was locking my door to go, I looked up, and the same girl who had walked by the night before, kind of downcast, her eyes on the ground, was looking at me, in a completely different manner! I was feeling happy! A full sleep and a sunny day, what more can one ask for? Before I went in for a few hours of work, I went for a couple of errands, and stopped on the way back from the Lake Oswego library, for a couple pictures.. Everywhere people were out, soaking up the nice day.. Washing their cars in the driveway, or waiting like me in a line at a car wash. (Mental note, they didn't do a very good job really - - I must stop giving that Kaadys over on Capitol Hill my 5 bucks. The prewash guys tend to be lazy, so they don't get the spots very well... but they had a big line anyway.. All that snow/slush/mud all over peoples SUVs -- which seem to be about 2/3 of the "cars" here.) ... On an unrelated note, joy! I think I might be in a 60's pop/garage/pychedelic mood today! If so, that's really good, I have a lot of stuff I need to sort through. I'm finding it hard to choose other Box Tops songs, outside of their two or three big hits, that I really like... Anyway, the whole vibe yesterday was completely different, and special. Hmm, I wish I could summons that vibe whenever I liked! The feminine variety seemed to have a thing for me yesterday. How does that work? I mean, all of a sudden, you're totally in tune? :-) I'm not complaining! Just wondering. Bad Music? Yes! There is such a thing, definitely!! I hear it often enough, listening to NPR.. Just this morning, on Weekend Edition. First, a discordant jazz interlude. Then, a not so listenable bit of classical... Well, it was a good way to get me to turn off the radio! ;-) On the other hand, ooo, they have some great features. Perhaps I was feeling bad about how effectively they were demonstrating this morning, that all music is not the same, and simply "music" is not necessarily good.. So when I turned on my PC, what did I think of? The Langley Music Project, and that school choir & band's version of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows." It's pretty sweet, in it's own way.. Unlike certain other music I was subjected to this morning! He hehe... Sometimes, silence is much better. Like my little visitor last evening observed, "Your house is peaceful." |
